Softball Hosts IPFW; Travels To IUPUI

ABOUT THE GAMES
The Cardinals will host the IPFW Mastodons this Tuesday in a doubleheader at the BSU Softball Complex . . . The single game was changed to a doubleheader after the cancellation of the Notre Dame game last week . . . Ball State will travel to Indianapolis on Wednesday, April 9, for a match up against IUPUI . . . Ball State swept IPFW last year 8-5 and 6-0.
ABOUT THE CARDINALS
The Cardinals are currently 23-19 with a 4-4 mark in Mid-American Conference play . . . Alicia Barkley leads the team with a .296 batting average . . . Abby Gross is hitting .277 and leads the team with 30 RBI . . . Lisa Rozanski leads the team in runs scored (22), hit by pitch (10), and stolen bases (20) . . . Elizabeth Milian has been consistent at the plate, and on the mound for BSU . . . Milian has nine doubles, three triples, two home runs and 21 RBI . . . She leads the pitching rotation with an ERA of 2.62 and a record of 12-7 . . . Tiffany Garofano is 7-9 with an ERA of 2.30.

IPFW has an overall record of 7-14 with a Summit Conference record of 2-5 . . . They most recently defeated UMKC 3-0 . . . Rachel Staschuk hit a home run for the Mastodons against UMKC. . . Staschuk finished the day 1-3 with 2 RBI while Jil Price went 1-4 and also scored two of the three Mastodon runs . . . Tara Mickelson leads the team with a .407 batting average . . . Mickelson has three doubles, two home runs and a team-high 12 RBI . . . Staschuk has two home runs on the season and also leads the Mastodons pitching rotation with a 3.17 ERA . . . IUPUI enters Wednesday's contest with a 2-16 overall record with a 1-8 record in the Summit Conference . . . The Jaguars picked up wins against Southern Utah (4-1) and Dayton (3-1) . . . Dayton won game two of the doubleheader against IUPUI 10-1 . . . Mia Ettl leads the team with a .343 batting average . . . Amy Raker, Amanda Mackey, and Meaghan Raynes each have one home run for the Jags . . . Raynes owns the best pitching record on the team at 2-4 . . . She has an ERA of 4.17 and a team-high 28 strikeouts . . . Jessica McGown has 17 strikeouts and an ERA of 6.82 . . . Ball State leads the all-time series 6-1.
STAR SENIORS
Abby Gross entered her senior season as the career home run leader in Ball State history . . . She also ranks first on the career BSU records list with 105 RBI . . . Gross started the 2008 season with a home run against LSU, Feb. 15 at Tiger Park . . . Gross is hitting .277 with a .445 slugging percentage and 30 RBI this season . . . Amanda Pick has five doubles, three home runs and a batting average of .292 . . . Pick is third on the team with 17 RBI.
FANTASTIC FRESHMEN
Alicia Barkley, Alyssa Collins and Lisa Rozanski have all made an impact for the Cardinals during thier freshmen season . . . Barkley has started all 42 games at shortstop for BSU . . . Barkley is hitting .296 with five doubles and 12 RBI . . . Collins starts in right field and has a batting average of .280 . . . Rozanski starts in center field for the Cards . . . Rozanski is hitting .221 and leads the team with 20 stolen bases, and 22 runs scored.
STEALING THE SHOW
The Cardinals stole a school record 127 bases in 2007 . . . the old record was 98 stolen bases in a single season set by the 1991 team . . . Ball State has 85 stolen bases in 2008 . . . Lisa Rozanski leads the team with 20.
MAC WEST PITCHER OF THE WEEK (Feb. 27 & March 19)
Tiffany Garofano went 1-1 at the Panera Bread Tournament with an ERA of 2.00 . . . She recorded 21 strikeouts and only gave up four runs through 14 innings pitched . . . She recorded a career high 12 strikeouts against St. Francis to lead BSU to a 2-1 victory. (Feb. 27) Garofano went 2-0 at the USF Under Armour Tournament. She shut down Long Island leading the Cardinals to a 1-0 victory. Garofano picked up her other win against Georgia Southern. She had an ERA of 1.00 over the weekend and struck out 11. (March 19)
MAC WEST PLAYER OF THE WEEK (Feb. 27)
Amanda Pick hit .429 with a slugging percentage of 1.000 at the Panera Bread Tournament . . . She had two doubles, two home runs and five RBI helping the Cardinals to a 4-1 record in the tournament . . . Pick hit her first home run of the season against East Tennessee State . . . She also hit a three-run home run against Lipscomb to lead Ball State to a 5-3 victory.
MILIAN ON THE MOUND (PLAYER OF THE WEEK APRIL 1)
Elizabeth Milian is having another fantastic year on the mound for the Cardinals . . . Milian leads the team with an overall record of 12-7 with an ERA of 2.62 . . . Of her 17 starts, she has thrown 15 complete games and also has three saves . . . Milian has thrown a team-high 128 innings and is second on the team with 75 stikeouts.
SEVEN GAME HITTING STREAK
Alyssa Collins has been a consistent part of the BSU offense as she has recorded at least one base hit in the Cardinals last seven games . . . Collins hit .421 last week with one double, one triple and six RBI . . . She also stole three bases and scored five runs for BSU.
SEND HER HOME
The Cardinals broke the runs scored record in 2007 with 221 . . . The old record was 214 set by the 1998 team . . . Allie Pennock scored 37 runs last year which placed her second all-time in the single season BSU record books . . . Eight Cardinals have scored over 10 runs in 2008 pushing the total to 171 . . . Lisa Rozanski leads the team with 22.

Tiffany Garofano has shut down opponents so far this season . . . Garofano has recorded a team-high 107 strikeouts, and has an ERA of 2.62.
