Gilkerson Named Academic All-MAC

Gilkerson helped the Cardinals capture their first win of the season at Illinois-Chicago March 8. Against UIC, Gilkerson scored a 9.800 on beam for a first place showing and then earned a 9.875 for top honors on floor. Those marks were career highs helping her win MAC weekly honors March 10. As a senior, Gilkerson has managed a 9.700 or higher total on vault on five different occasions. In her last performance of the season, she managed to lead her team at the MAC Championship on vault with a 9.725.
This honor is for a student-athlete who has excelled in athletics and academics. To qualify, a student-athlete must have at least a 3.20 cumulative GPA and have participated in at least 50 percent of the contests for that particular sport. First-year students and JC transfers in their first year of residence are not eligible for the award.
