Four Cardinals Earn First Team All-MAC Honors

MUNCIE, Ind. -- The Ball State track and field team finished the indoor season with a fourth place finish at the Mid-American Conference Championships.
Ali Bishel, Ra'Jae Marable, Terri Abraham and Thekla Lorenz all won their respective event in order to be named to the Women's All-MAC First Team.
Abraham (Decatur, Ill./Argenta-Oreana) won the long jump with a distance of 19-08 ?.
Bishel (Chesterton, Ind./Chesterton) won two events in day two of the competition. Bishel ran a 4:53.72 mile, and then ran the 3000-meter run in 9:40.59 to earn 20 points for BSU.
Freshmen Ra'Jae Marable (Ann Arbor, Mich,/Pioneer)and Thekla Lorenz (Hamburg, Germany) made an impact for the Cardinals by each winning an event.
Marable entered the 60-meter hurdle finals as a seven seed out of eight entrants, yet she was able to win first place with a time of 8.58.
Lorenz tested her endurance, winning the pentathlon with 3,797 points. Lorenz won the long jump with a leap of 18-10 ?, and finished third in the shot put with a distance of 37-05 ?. She also placed sixth in both the 60-meter hurdles (9.0) and the high jump (5-4 ?).
Senior Amanda Barnhart (Lafayette, Ind./Jefferson) was named Second Team All-MAC. Barnhart finished second in the long jump with a distance of 19-05 ?.
The Cardinals first outdoor track and field meet will be March 29, as the team travels to Toledo, Ohio to compete in the Rocket Team Challenge.
