
Buffalo Sweeps Swimming & Diving

MUNCIE, Ind. - - The Ball State swimming and diving program suffered setbacks to Mid-American Conference foe Buffalo as the men's team lost 130-109 and the women's squad fell 160-137 on Saturday afternoon at the Lewellen Aquatic Center.
The men's team took first-place in four events in their fourth meet of the year.
Junior Austin Laska earned the Cardinals' first victory of the day, winning the 50-yard freestyle with a time of 21.58.
BSU fared best overall in the 500-yard freestyle. Senior Kyle Hembree won clocking in a season-best 4:52.56, while freshman Andrew Hostetler (4:55.66) and sophomore Mark Golden (4:55.98) finished second and third, respectively.
Sophomore Robby Muller finished first in the 200-yard breaststroke posting his fastest time of the season at 2:14.82.
The 400-yard freestyle relay A team of juniors Ben Battjes and Austin Laska and freshmen Chris Krupa and Casey Schroeder came away victorious with a season-fast time of 3:14.43.
Unable to duplicate its comeback performance from Friday night vs. Akron, the women's team managed three first-place finishers.
Senior Megan Ploetz won the 200-yard butterfly recording a season-best time of 2:08.34 and senior Erika Paul placed first in the 200-yard IM in 2:13.18.
The 400-yard freestyle relay team of junior Sarah Kehe and sophomores Katie Bylsma, Joan Cullen and Maria Gramelspacher also finished first with a time of 3:38.12.
The BSU swimming and diving program returns to action on Nov. 21 when they host the Douglas A. Coers Invitational starting at 6 p.m.
