Football Team Ranked for Fourth Straight Week

Ball State's football team improved to 8-0 overall and 4-0 in the Mid-American Conference with a 38-16 home win over Eastern Michigan, and will host Northern Illinois Wednesday at Scheumann Stadium in an 8 p.m. game televised nationally on ESPN2.
Despite being idle Saturday, the Cardinals moved up in two of the three major national college football polls -- The Associated Press, the USA Today Coaches Poll and the Bowl Championship Series Standings. The Cardinals moved up to 16th in The Associated Press Poll after ranking 18th a week ago. In the USA Today Coaches Poll, Ball State moved from 19th to 18th. In the initial 2008 Bowl Championship Series Standings which were announced Oct. 19, the Cardinals were ranked 20th and they moved into 16th in the second week of the BCS Standings. In week three of the BCS Standings, Ball State is 17th. Ball State, under the direction of sixth-year head coach Brady Hoke, is off to an 8-0 start for the first time since the 1965 season. This year's rankings in the Associated Press, BCS and USA Today polls mark the first ever for the Cardinals. Ball State is 4-0 in MAC play for the first time since the 1988 campaign.
