Football Team Continues Climb in National Polls

MUNCIE, Ind. -- Ball State's football team improved to 8-0 overall and 4-0 in the Mid-American Conference with a 38-16 home win over Eastern Michigan Saturday. With the victory, the Cardinals moved up in the three major national college football polls -- The Associated Press, the USA Today Coaches Poll and the Bowl Championship Series Standings.
The Cardinals moved up to 18th in The Associated Press Poll after ranking 20th a week ago. In the USA Today Coaches Poll, Ball State moved from 22nd to 19th.
In the initial 2008 Bowl Championship Series Standings which were announced Oct. 19, the Cardinals were ranked 20th and they have moved up to 16th in the second week of the BCS Standings.
Ball State, under the direction of sixth-year head coach Brady Hoke, is off to an 8-0 start for the first time since the 1965 season. This year's rankings in the Associated Press, BCS and USA Today polls mark the first ever for the Cardinals.
Ball State is 4-0 in MAC play for the first time since the 1988 campaign, and will return to action Wednesday, Nov. 5, with a home game against MAC foe Northern Illinois. The game will be nationally televised on ESPN2 and kick off at 8 p.m. (ET).
