"Alisha Green is a significant addition to Ball State Volleyball," said Boos. "She is an elite athlete with unique quickness and jumping ability. Alisha comes to Ball State with high level college experience and a national championship. She is a very driven athlete that knows how to and expects to succeed. In just two seasons with the Spartans, Green has tallied 764 kills and ranks seventh in school history with a .362 attack percentage. At the net, Green has collected 206 career blocks, including 81 solo stuffs.
Green has posted double-figure kills in 43 matches over her career, including a career-high 22 against Florida Tech (Sept. 15, 2007). A member of the 2006 NCAA National All-Tournament Team, Green has collected five-or-more blocks in 14 matches, with a career-high nine blocks on two occasions. She has also hit .400-or-better in 28 career matches, including a personal-best .800 (8-0-10) rate of success versus CSU Monterey Bay (Sept. 1, 2007).
Prior to attending the University of Tampa, Green was a three-year all-conference player for Hillcrest High School in Country Club Hills, Ill. An all-area honorable mention as a senior, Green was named team Most Valuable Player as a senior, after racking up the team's Top Offensive Player award the previous two seasons.
Q & A With Alisha Green:
Q: What brought you to Ball State?
A: I originally wanted to come to Ball State before I went to the University of Tampa, but I felt I would be able to grow more as an individual farther away from home. Having spent the last two seasons away from home, I realized I missed and needed the support of my family and friends. I really like Ball State University as a whole and coming here will allow me to be closer to home and pursue a degree in fashion design.
Q: Why fashion design?
A: I am really interested in fashion. I like designing and making things and people beautiful. I want to make clothing that makes people feel secure as an individual.
Q: What are you looking forward to the most about playing closer to home?
A: I am looking forward to my mom getting to see me play. She really has not gotten the chance to see me play collegiately, other than on the internet. Family support is the biggest thing, but I am also really looking forward to being able to live off campus.
Q: What are you looking forward to the most about playing at Ball State?
A: Everything makes me want to play at Ball State. The staff is incredible and the team is really nice. I am also excited about playing in front of fans who are really interested in volleyball.
Q: Can you tell us something fun about yourself?
A: I like to dance, draw and write poetry. I also play two instruments; the trumpet and tuba. I would also like to go back to my old high school as a coach, so I can be a role model for the younger girls.
