June 12, 2007 | Football
Joey Lynch, a senior member of Ball State's 2006 football team, who was slated to become a graduate assistant coach for the Cardinals this fall, has accepted a position as the offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach at St. Joseph's College in Rensselaer, Ind.
"We are extremely proud of Joey Lynch and excited for him to have this opportunity," Ball State head coach Brady Hoke says. "He has grown up around the game of football, and is one of the best students of the game I have ever been around. He comes from a quality family of football coaches. This is a great chance for him to get his start in this business. Joey Lynch has meant a lot to Ball State football the last five years, and he would have been a great asset to us as a graduate assistant coach. However, this is a great chance for him to learn the coaching side of the game, while providing for his family. We wish him all the best."
St. Joseph's College is a private, Catholic, liberal arts college founded in 1889. The school has over 1,000 students from 19 states. Lynch completed 391-of-613 passes for 4,292 yards with 37 touchdowns and a .638 career passing percentage. Joey's brother, Kevin, will be a sophomore member of the Franklin College football team this fall.
