Taylor Yancey Earns Academic All-MAC Honors

MUNCIE, Ind. -- Senior Taylor Yancey (Avon, Ind. (Avon H.S.) has been named to the 2007 Academic All-MAC Women's Softball team as voted on by the league's faculty athletic representatives.
To be nominated, a student-athlete must have at least a 3.20 cumulative GPA and have participated in at least 50 percent of the contests for that particular sport. Outstanding academic and athletic accomplishments from the current season only are considered.
Yancey is majoring in speech pathology and holds a 3.51 grade point average.
Yancey hit .273 for the Cardinals including five doubles, five triples, eight home runs, 23 runs batted in and 24 stolen bases.
Yancey led the team and the MAC with 42 runs scored. Yancey's total is a new single-season Ball State record.
Yancey also set the single-season home run record with eight. She is tied for second on the career home run list with 12. Ruth Hjelmeland also has 12 career home runs.
Other accomplishments include leading the MAC with five triples, placing second in total bases with 84, and finishing third in the conference in stolen bases with 24.
