Final MAC Results
YPSILANTI, Mich. - The Ball State University gymnastics team (4-12, 1-7 MAC) ended its 2007 season with a fourth place finish at the Mid-American Conference Championships held by Eastern Michigan on Saturday afternoon after posting a 193.400 team score.
Host Eastern Michigan won the MAC's by a score of 194.525. Kent State came in second (194.275) and Central Michigan finished third (194.050). The Cardinals scored higher than Northern Illinois, reigning champion Western Michigan and Bowling Green.
Senior Jenna Tarkington took top honors on vault scoring better than any of her peers with a 9.825. Classmate Kelly Watson shared fifth place honors on bars with a 9.750. Four Cardinals were tied for 13th place on beam with Lauren West, Laura Shockey, Alex Tuthill and Watson all scoring a 9.700. Watson continued success in the all-around with a 10th place finish on floor (9.750).
Watson finished second in the all-around competition for Ball State with a 38.900 total. The all-around score was Watson's highest of her career at BSU. Shockey's beam performance was a personal best. The Cardinals also compiled its best team score of the season along with its best turnout on bars (48.425).
Tarkington and Watson were also tabbed First Team All-MAC at the conclusion of the meet.
