Muncie, Ind. -- Junior Amber Williams (Fort Wayne, Ind./Concordia Lutheran H.S.) was awarded the 2007 Most Valuable Performer during the Indoor Mid-American Conference Championships.
Williams set a MAC Meet record in the 60-meter hurdles and qualified provisionally for the NCAA Championships in March with a time of 8.19. Her record is just .04 seconds off an NCAA automatic qualifying time.
The time of 8.19 breaks Williams' own school record of 8.26 in the 60-meter hurdles and also sets a new Akron Fieldhouse record.
Williams also finished second in the 60-meter dash with a time of 7.42 and placed third in the 200-meter dash finishing in 24.31.
Just last week Williams was named the Mid-American West Division women's track athlete of the week, as announced by the league office Feb. 20.
Williams took first place in the 60-meter hurdles with a time of 8.26 at the Ball State Quadrangular. She also finished first in the 200-meter dash with a time of 25.04, her fastest time of the season.
