February 22, 2007 | Gymnastics
This Week: The Ball State University women's gymnastics team hosts Northern Illinois in Mid-American Conference action on Friday, Feb. 23. The meet is set to begin at 7 pm in Irving Gym. BSU enters the meet with a 1-6 record while NIU is 1-3.
Last Week: BSU fell to Eastern Michigan in MAC action last Saturday (Feb. 17). Despite the loss, BSU continues to improve with each competition. The Cardinals managed a season high 189.450 team total. They also earned their best performance on bars for the season after compiling a score of 47.450. The highlight of the meet was freshman Bibiana Rodriguez-Lockwood who stuck her bars routine, which earned her a personal best 9.700 and at second place finish at EMU.
Simonton's Thoughts for The Meet
"The team is really excited to be back in our home venue to compete in front of our great fans. We are hoping to fill our BSU student section which we call "The GymNest". Friday night's meet will also be an opportunity to recognize members of the Cardinal Varsity Club (CVC) and our very own 10.0 BSU Gym Fan Club. The team has concentrated on mental preparedness and is focused for a fantastic meet Friday night."
