Week 25 Journal
Well we're back into the west division action, first up was Toledo. We left Tuesday afternoon a couple hours earlier than usual due to more snow. Steve, our bus driver, did a phenomenal job to keep us on the road. We didn't hit much traffic until we got right outside of Toledo. At that point we decided to take a few back roads in order to get to our hotel. We finally got to our hotel, six hours after leaving Muncie. As we rolled up to our hotel we realized that there was no power. We all dragged our bags off the bus and took a seat in the lobby while the coaching staff figured out exactly what to do. The solution we came up with was to get back on the bus and head to a restaurant for dinner, waste about and hour, and then return to the hotel, which hopefully had power by that time. We pulled into the Applebee's parking lot around 8:30pm to grab a bite to eat. As we came to a stop, we looked up at the sign, only to find that the employees had turned the lights off on us. Soooo...we left, sad and hungry. We found another hotel close by and decided to stay there instead of taking our chances with the power.
The next day was just as interesting. We woke up to find out the Toledo was under a snow emergency, which meant only emergency vehicles could be on the road. So, we had no way of getting to our shoot around. The emergency was lifted later in the day, so we made it to the gym around 2pm. We were a little rushed but everything turned out just fine. The game was pretty physical, but we left with a win (along with a couple bumps and bruises).
We had a relaxing Thursday and then it was time to travel again on Friday. It was off to Western Michigan for the weekend. We went through Fort Wayne were we stopped to have dinner with my parents. We had a nice little dinner and then it was back onto the bus. As soon as we took off, the three seniors headed to the front of the bus. We had a little piece prepared for “open mic” night. We decided to be a three-woman band. I pulled out my recorder from my 5th grade music class and Becca pulled out her flute from middle school. We stood up, and played “Hot Cross Buns” while Tina sang the words. Or at least it was supposed to go like that. To be honest, Becca and I just made a bunch of noise, and Tina could only get out the word “hot” before doubling over with laughter. We ended up playing nothing and there wasn't a word sung, but we got a good laugh out of it. Later on Dana stole my recorder and her and Kiley took over as they tried their rendition of “Twinkle, Twinkle Little Star” which they ended up doing a pretty good job of.
This coming week we have two home games against Central and Easter Michigan. This coming Saturday is going to be tough. Its senior night already and we're trying not to think about it as much as possible. The regular season is wrapping up, but there are still plenty of goals to accomplish. We also have a chance at hitting the 20 win mark this week as well. It's going to be a special week and we hope everyone comes out to enjoy it with us.
