Softball Team Playing in Lion Softball Scramble

Due to freezing temperatures and unplayable conditions the UT-Martin Tournament scheduled for Feb. 18-19 will not take place.
Ball State will replace the UT-Martin tournament with the Lion Softball Scramble hosted by Southeastern Louisiana held in Hammond, Louisiana.

About Ball State
The Cardinals' game against St. Louis is the team's 2007 season-opener . . . Ball State comes into the season with several new faces . . . Head coach Craig Nicholson makes his coaching debut with Ball State . . . The Cardinals have five newcomers for the 2007 season . . . four of the newcomers are true freshmen while one --Stephanie Talarek-- is a transfer from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro . . . Scouting Southeastern Louisiana
Southeastern Louisiana enters the Lion Softball Scramble with a 4-2 overall record . . . Jill Machliet leads the Lions with two doubles, one homerun and five RBIs in just five games . . . The Lions are currently on a three-game winning streak . . . The game on Saturday will be the first meeting between Southeastern Louisiana and Ball State.
Scouting Indiana State
Indiana State also opens the 2007 season at the Lion Softball Scramble . . . The Sycamores finished 25-26 in 2006 . . . Junior Darcy Wood won 21 games in 2006 and was selected to the 2007 Preseason All-Valley Softball Team . . . Ball State leads the overall series 32-23.
