In the opening game, the Cardinals fell behind 8-2, before rallying back to tie the set at 17-17 on a service ace from Angie Parrell (Black Earth, Wis./Wisconsin Heights H.S.), which forced IPFW to call its first timeout.
After the minute break, the Mastodons rallied off the next four points and never looked back, winning the game 30-22.
In the second game, IPFW pulled ahead 10-3, before building a 10-point advantage at 15-5. After IPFW pulled ahead 27-13, the Cardinals managed to score five on the next six points to make the score 28-18. Unfortunately a pair of BSU errors ended the frame at 30-18.
The third game started with the teams playing to a 3-3 tie, before the Mastodons took control, rallying off the next five points and winning the game 30-9.
The Mastodon defense limited the Cardinals to a -.127 (23-37-110) attack percentage in the match, while hitting .163 (27-13-86) over the three games.
BSU also finished the night with 40 digs, five total blocks and an ace, while IPFW scored 41 digs, 11 aces and six team blocks.
Rebekah Roehm was IPFW's top attack, scoring nine kills on the evening, while Cynara Martins and Peachy Jankowski each logged a team-high 10 digs.

In addition to the Ball State University Singers performing the national anthem at Thursday's contest, the Cardinals will honor its two seniors, Parrell and Brittany May (Gaston, Ind./Wes-Del H.S.), at the conclusion of the contest.
