MUNCIE, Ind. -- The Ball State University women's gymnastics team hosts its first two home meets of the season on Friday, Jan. 26 and Sunday, Jan. 28. The Jan. 28 meet against Alaska which starts at 2 pm in Irving Gym will be designated as “Flip for Pink” which is a tribute to breast cancer awareness and survivors.
The Cardinals are requesting fans to wear pink to show their support on Sunday. The cancer center at Ball Memorial hospital has donated awareness information that will be available at the entrance for fans. Mary Rigel a seven-year cancer survivor and manager of the cancer boutique has provided giveaways which includes pink armbands, awareness buttons and a piece of jewelry that will be raffled off to a lucky fan.
“We are thrilled to join our community in supporting this great cause,” said head coach Lisa Simonton. “The BSU Women's Gymnastics Team is not only trying to increase the level of awareness; but also honor the brave women who are fighters and survivors of this disease during our home event . We hope to get the public involved so that we can all help in the ongoing battle against the disease.”
BSU also hosts the Cardinal Classic that weekend, Jan. 26 against Central Michigan. The meet is set to begin at 7 pm in Irving Gym.
