Women's Volleyball Swept at Wright State

Dayton, Ohio - - Despite the return of senior Stephanie Bacan (Remsen, Iowa/St. Mary's H.S.) to the Ball State women's volleyball lineup, the Cardinals suffered a 0-3 (24-30, 28-30, 22-30) setback at Wright State Tuesday evening. With the loss, BSU falls to 2-9 on the year, while WSU improves to 6-8.
In her first match of the season, Bacan tallied seven digs, to go along with a kill and a service ace.
In the loss, junior Angie Parrell (Black Earth, Wis./Wisconsin Heights H.S.) paced the Cardinals with 17 assists, moving her career total over the 2,000 mark to 2,013. In addition, she added five digs, three blocks and a pair of kills.

After playing to a 4-4 tie in the second frame, WSU would score the next two points and would not trail the rest of the match. BSU would keep the second game close, never trailing by more than four points, including drawing within one point at 29-28. However a kill from Wright State's Jenny Schultz ended the game at 30-28.
The third game saw the teams play to a 3-3 tie before a pair of BSU errors gave the Raiders a two-point advantage. Wright State would extend its edge to five points at 12-7 and take a seven-point advantage at 27-20 before winning the game by eight at 30-22.
Freshman Julie Breivogel (Boonville, Ind./Boonville H.S.) tallied nine kills and three digs in the loss, while May finished the contest with seven kills, two digs and an ace.
Senior Amanda McCormick (Muncie, Ind./Burris H.S.) saw her streak of six-straight matches with 20-plus digs come to an end, finishing the night with 15. With the 15 digs, McCormick moved her career total at Ball State to 999, one shy of becoming just the 11th player in school history to record 1,000 digs at BSU.

As a team, the Cardinals finished the match with a .189 (41-18-122) attack percentage, while Wright State hit .283 (55-16-138) on the night. The Cardinals held a slim 59-56 edge in digs for the match, while both teams recorded eight blocks. WSU had a 5-3 edge in aces.
