May 06, 2006 | Softball
KENT, Ohio -- Ball State was unable to find an answer to Kent State pitcher Brittany Robinson in Saturday's Mid-American Conference single game at the Kent State Softball Field in Kent, Ohio. Robinson yielded just two hits and fanned 13 batters to lead her team to a 3-0 verdict over the Cardinals.
The win helped the second-place Flashes maintain a one-half game lead over Akron and stay within striking distance, one game behind first-place Bowling Green for the East Division title.
Ball State and Kent State dueled for three and one-half innings, before the Flashes plated a run in the bottom of the fourth. KSU added two more insurance runs on a pair of solo homers in the bottom portion of the sixth.
Amanda Pick and Sarah McGregor each had hits for Ball State. Pick took the loss, scattering six hits while striking out five batters. She drops to 6-11 on the season. Robinson improves to 25-11 this spring.
Ball State, 13-29 overall and 6-15 in the MAC, wraps up its regular season slate with a single game against Kent State (27-22; 15-5 MAC) Sunday at 1 p.m.
