McCoy Closes Out Heptathlon Competition at NCAA Championships

McCoy began the event Friday in the 100-meter hurdles where she finished ninth with a time of 14.41. Arizona State's Jacquelyn Johnson won the event with a 13.34 clocking.
In the high jump, McCoy earned a 26th-place finish with a mark of 5-00 1/2. Diana Pickler (Washington State), Jillian Droulin (Syracuse) and Jacquelyn Johnson (Arizona State) tied for first place with a jump of 5-10.
McCoy fouled out of the shot put competition, while Annett Wichmann (Hawaii-Manoa) posted a first-place throw of 45-9.
In the final event on Friday, McCoy earned a 26th-place time of 26.76 in the 200-meter dash. Diana Pickler (Washington State) earned the victory with a time of 24.31.
On Saturday, McCoy posted an eighth-place tie in the long jump with a distance of 19-00. Mississippi's Ashley Reyer and Vanderbilt's Garnetta Holloway tied with McCoy, while Jacquelyn Johnson (Arizona State) took the long jump crown (19-11.75).
In the javelin throw, McCoy garnered 18th place honors with a marking of 112-07. Saskia Triesscheijn (Virginia Tech) tallied the top throw of 145-06.
In the final event of the competition, McCoy finished 27th with a time of 2:46.17 in the 800-meter run. Arizona State's Jacquelyn Johnson once again took home top honors with a clocking of 2:13.28. Johnson would go on to win the heptathlon with 5,939 points. McCoy registered 4,167 points and a 27th-place finish.
On Thursday, fellow senior Jill Scully (Valparaiso, Ind./Valparaiso) finished 18th in the 10,000-meter run. Scully crossed the finish line in 34:54.78, while Arizona State's Victoria Jackson took home the 10,000 crown with a time of 32:54.72.
