Track Finishes Second at Miami Invitational

Sophomore Yvonne Ferguson led the way for BSU. Ferguson finished first in the 400-meter dash with a school record time of 53.94. The time knocks off the school record set by Jada Phelps in 2000 (53.97). The sophomore added a second-place finish in the 200 dash with a season-best time of 24.13.
Freshman Jeanne Roberts posted a first-place finish in the 100 dash (
Senior Jennifer McCoy finished strong for BSU earning first, second and third-place finishes over three events. McCoy took home first in the 100 hurdles with a clocking of 14.25, second in the long jump with a mark of 19-0 ½ and third in the javelin throw with a toss of 124-01. McCoy's throw in the javelin is a season-best mark.
Five other Cardinals took home second-place honors. Tiffany Notarfrancisco tossed the second-best mark in the hammer throw (163-00). Amanda Brewer finished second in the 400-hurdles (1:02.74). Tamelca Lewis posted runner-up honors in the triple jump (39-07). Christina Whitt posted the second-best clocking in the 400 dash (55.32), while Amber Williams earned second in the 100 hurdles (14.35).
Rounding out top-three finishers were senior Bridgett Coleman and junior Amanda Barnhart. Coleman had the third-best time in the 400 hurdles (1:02.90), while Barnhart finished third in the long jump (18-10).
BSU picked up both wins in the relay events. The 4x100 finished in 45.82 and the 4x400 posted their best time of the season finishing in 3:46.51.
The track team will split up next weekend sending athletes to the Searay Relays, April 12-15 in Knoxville, Tenn. and the Mt. SAC Relays held in Walnut, Calif. April 13-15.
