Softball Falls to West Division Leader

Ball State struck first, but Western Michigan recovered for three runs in the bottom of the seventh inning on the way to a 4-2 victory Saturday in Kalamazoo, Mich.
Amanda Pick went wood for the first time this spring with her two-out, two-run home run in the top of the third, which gave Ball State a 2-0 advantage. Western Michigan countered with one run in the bottom portion of the inning. The teams dueled for three and one-half scoreless innings, before the Broncos sent the Cardinals reeling with three runs in the bottom of the seventh inning.
Western Michigan posted a 10-2 advantage in hits. Pick pitched the first four innings, scattering six hits and yielding just one run, but Abby Zollman took the loss. Zollman alllowed the first two runs in the bottom of the seventh. Kelli Jeziorski had BSU's other hit.
Ball State, 9-14 overall and 3-4 in the MAC, continues league play Sunday in a single game versus Western Michigan. First pitch is slated for 1 p.m.
