Softball Downed by Eagles
April 30, 2006 | Softball
EMU jumped out to a 2-0 lead off of three hits in the bottom of the first inning. The Eagles added two more scores -- thanks to a two-run homer -- in the fifth.
The Cardinals attempted a rally in the seventh when -- with one out -- Taylor Yancey and Katelyn Gunderson tallied back-to-back singles. However, Eastern Michigan stymied the rally with a strikeout and flyout to end the game.
The Eagles managed eight hits to Ball State's four. Besides Yancey and Gunderson, Allie Pennock and Kelli Jeziorski added base hits. Abby Zollman took the loss, pitching 4 1/3 innings and allowing all four runs. Zollman struck out three batters. Laura Masch struck out two batters in 1 2/3 innings of work.
BSU continues a long road trek Friday with a twinbill at Buffalo.
