Track Wraps Up Day Three at Searay Relays

Junior Tamelca Lewis led the way placing fifth in the triple jump with an NCAA regional qualifying mark of 41-10 ½. The mark is a team-best for the Cardinals.
Freshman Vanessa Gilbert finished seventh for BSU in the 10,000-meter run. Gilbert posted a time of 38:56.16 in the event.
Three Cardinals earned 11th-place honors. Senior Tiffany Notarfrancisco earned a mark of 159-04 in the hammer throw, junior Rose Lehe clocked in at 10:41.46 in the 3,000, while sophomore Yvonne Ferguson posted at time of 55.23 in the 400.
Freshman Jeanne Roberts chipped in with a time of 11.98 in the 100 good for 28th place. The time is the second-best for BSU this season.
The 4x200 relay team garnered 10th-place honors with a time of 1:38.83.
During the first two days of competition senior Jennifer McCoy and freshman Lanae Stovall competed in the heptathlon. McCoy broke the school record with an overall score of 5,291. The score is an NCAA provisional qualifying mark and currently ranks ninth in the country.
Overall, McCoy placed third in the event while recording scores of 19-07 ½ in the long jump, 5 ½ in the high jump, 121-01 in the javelin throw, 39-08 in the shot put and times of 14.08 in the 100 hurdles, 25.79 in the 200 and 2:27.54 in the 800. Her score of 19-07 ½ in the long jump is an NCAA regional qualifying mark.
In her first ever heptathlon, Stovall placed 14th with an overall score of 4,357. The freshman finished with marks of 16-09 ¼ in the long jump, 4-11 ½ in the high jump, 67-01 in the javelin throw, 31-05 ¼ in the shot put and times of 14.22 in the 100 hurdles, 25.40 in the 200 and 2:42.89 in the 800. Stovall's time of 14.22 in the hurdles is a personal-best mark.
