Gymnastics Team Closes Out Season at MAC Championships

KALAMAZOO, Mich. ? The Ball State women's gymnastics team finished seventh at the 2006 Mid-American Conference Championships held Saturday, in Kalamazoo, Mich. The Cardinals recorded a team score of 188.225, while Western Michigan took the crown with a score of 193.800. Central Michigan, Kent, Eastern Michigan, Northern Illinois and Bowling Green finished second, third, fourth, fifth and sixth, respectively.

Sophomore Erica Gilkerson notched BSU's top scores on both vault (9.700) and floor (9.725). Gilkerson tied for 16^th on vault and tied for 19^th on floor. The sophomore added a 10^th-place finish in the all-around competition with an overall score of 37.825.

Junior Kelly Watson placed seventh in the all-around competition with a score of 38.225. Watson recorded scores of 9.675 on vault, 9.425 on bars, 9.600 on beam and 9.525 on floor.

Sophomore Kristin Sprague finished first for the squad on bars. Her score of 9.475 earned 27^th-place honors.

Overall, the team recorded scores of on vault 47.600, 46.150 bars, 46.225 beam and 48.250 floor. Ball State's floor mark was a season-best score.

BSU finished the season with an overall record of 2-15, while going 1-5 versus MAC competition.
