Ball State University Athletics
Softball Tallies 1-1 Mark at Louisville
March 02, 2006 | Softball
In the first game, Ball State shocked IUPUI with three runs in the top of the first and then added a security run in the fourth. BSU knocked out 10 hits versus the Jaguars, including two each by Taylor Yancey, Kelli Jeziorski and Amanda Pick. Yancey and Jeziorski each scored a run, while Pick plated a pair. Freshman Amanda Graeter had her first collegiate home run -- a solo shot -- in the fourth inning.
Pick earned the pitching decision to improve to 2-0 on the season. She scattered seven hits and had four strikeouts.
The Cardinals were unable to find any offense in the nightcap - mustering just four hits. BSU did, however, strand 10 base runners, including seven in scoring position. Quincy Duran took the loss, despite four strikeouts, a five-hitter and no earned runs.
BSU, 3-3 on the season, continues its 2006 campaign Monday with a twinbill at Butler. The team then heads West for spring break for a tournament at Fresno State March 9-12.
