Track Places Second at MAC Championships

Senior Jill Scully shined at the meet defending her titles in the 3,000-meter run and 5,000. Scully won both events recording times of 9:44.49 and 16:42.66, respectively. The senior added a second-place finish in the mile with a season-best time of 4:54.52. For her efforts, Scully racked up 28 points for BSU, while being named a First Team All-MAC recipient.
Sophomore Amber Williams posted second-place finishes in three events earning 24 points for the squad. Williams recorded times of 8.27 in the 60 hurdles, 7.47 in the 60 dash and 24.52 in the 200. Her time in the 60 hurdles in an NCAA provisional qualifying mark, while her 60 dash time was a season-best mark.
Junior Terri Abraham had an outstanding weekend earning second-place finishes in the long and triple jump. Abraham's mark of 20-05 in the long jump was an NCAA provisional qualifying score, team best and personal record. Her mark in the triple jump of 41-01 was also a season-best score and personal record. In the two events, Abraham earned a total of 16 points for the Cardinals.
Senior Jennifer McCoy finished second in the pentathlon breaking the school record with a score of 3,739. McCoy recorded a second-place finish in the 60 hurdles (8.62), tied for 12th in the high jump (4-10 1/2), first-place finish in the shot put (39-07), third-place finish in the long jump (19-04 1/2) and sixth-place finish in the 800 (2:33.16). The senior also placed sixth in the 60 hurdles with a time of 8.64 and seventh in the long jump with a score of 19-00 3/4.
Third-place finishers for BSU were junior Tamelca Lewis (triple jump 40-06 1/4) and freshman Jeanne Roberts (60 dash, 7.51). Sophomore Yvonne Ferguson chipped in a fourth-place finish in the 400 with a time of 55.65 and junior Amanda Barnhart placed sixth in the long jump (19-03 1/2).
The distance medley team added four points for its fifth-place finish with a clocking of 12:09.71.
Several competitors will head to Notre Dame, Ind., next weekend for the Alex Wilson Invitational March 3-4.
