Football Players Participate in Read-A-Thon
December 09, 2006 | Football
A group of 15 Ball State University football student-athletes spent Friday afternoon at Garfield Elementary School participating in a Read-A-Thon with the students.
The Read-A-Thon was scheduled to kickoff the 2007 year and celebrate the Holiday season. Ball State's junior defensive end Cortlan Booker read "How the Grinch Stole Christmas" to the 320 Garfield Elementary School students in an all-school assembly.
The 15 Ball State football student-athletes then split up and each read to a classroom. The students and Ball State players read for 2007 seconds, and then a question and answer session followed to give the elementary students a chance to interact more with the Ball State student-athletes as they stressed the importance of reading and staying in school.
