Ball State Coach Todd Lane Resigns
October 25, 2006 | Track & Field
Todd Lane, the interim coach for both women's cross country and track has resigned from Ball State University to accept an assistant coaching position with the University of Miami. Lane, who will coach jumps and multi-events, begins immediately at Miami.
While at Ball State, Lane served two seasons as an assistant coach for women's track and cross country. Last year he helped the cross country team finish third at the Mid-American Conference Championship.
In addition to cross country, Lane helped with both indoor and outdoor track for the Cardinals. During the 2005-06 Indoor Track season, Lane assisted the Cardinals' Jill Scully as she was named MAC Track Most Outstanding Performer. Scully won both the 3,000-meter and 5,000-meter event.
During the 2005-06 Outdoor Track season, Lane coached Jennifer McCoy and Jill Scully to spots at the NCAA Outdoor Track and Field Championships. During that year five Ball State runners were named All-MAC recipients for their performances at the MAC Championships.
Turena Johnson-Lane, who entered her third year as an assistant coach at Ball State in 2006, will coach Ball State in its final two meets of the season. A search for Lane's replacement will begin immediately.
