Cardinals Take Top Two Spots on Vault; Gymnastics Suffers Setback to Kent State

For the second-straight week junior Kelly Watson was the top finisher in the all-around. Watson finished second with a score of 37.725 after tallying scores of 9.725 on vault, 9.200 on bars, 9.300 on beam and 9.500 on floor. Her score on vault earned her first-place honors.
Junior Jenna Tarkington finished closely behind Watson on vault with a second-place score of 9.650. Also posting a runner-up finish was sophomore Erica Gilkerson who notched a score of 9.600 on floor.
Placing third for BSU were junior Kaitlyn Wills and sophomores Brittany George and Gilkerson. Wills scored a 9.500 on bars, while George and Gilkerson tied with a mark of 9.325.
Overall, the team scored 47.500 on vault, 44.200 on bars, 46.000 on beam and 46.575 on floor.
The Ball State Cardinals continue their schedule when they host Bowling Green and Michigan State in the Cardinal Classic Friday, Feb. 10, at 7 p.m. in Irving Gym.
