- - The Cardinals enter Tuesday's contest versus IPFW with a 6-3 overall record . . . In the team's lone contest last week, BSU posted a 3-0 (30-20, 30-22, 30-18) homecourt victory over Butler Wednesday.
- - Ball State enters Tuesday's contest with a 5-1 all-time record vs. IPFW, including wins in the last five contests . . . BSU holds a 35-29 edge vs. Miami, with wins in 10 of the last 11 meetings after falling to the RedHawks last season . . . The Cardinals are 34-10-1 all-time vs. Bowling Green, including 24-straight victories.
- - Friday's match vs. Miami marks the Mid-American Conference opener for both teams . . . In head coach Randy Litchfield's 16 previous MAC openers, the Cardinals hold a 13-3 record, with all three losses coming on the road . . . In fact, Litchfield is a perfect 16-0 in MAC home openers.

- - Senior Sarah Obras continues her climb toward the top of the MAC's career kills list, collecting 10 vs. Butler . . . With 1,701 career kills, Obras is currently 206 shy of the all-time Mid-American Conference mark of 1,907 set by Northern Illinois' Tera Lobdell (2001-04) . . . In addition, the 5-10 outside attacker is 126 short of the all-time school record of 1,827 held by Megan Hammons (1998-2001).
- - Senior Sarah Obras became just the fifth player in MAC history to tally over 1,700 career kills in the Cardinals win over Butler . . . She also scored 12 digs in the match to move her career digs total to 1,363 . . . Obras is only the second player in MAC history to post 1,700+ career kills and 1,300+ career digs and enters the week 37 digs shy of becoming the first player in MAC history to collect 1,700+ career kills and 1,400+ career digs.
REFENES COLLECTS 1,000TH KILL: Senior Rachel Refenes tagged her 1,000th career kill in the Cardinals' 3-0 victory over Butler last Wednesday . . . With the score knotted at 2-2 in the opening set, the 6-3 middle attacker smashed a rocket onto the Worthen Arena hardwood floor . . . She finished the contest with 14 markers, upping her career total to 1,013 . . . Refenes has smashed 466 kills since joining the Cardinals last season . . . In her previous two seasons at Mississippi, she collected 547 kills.
REFENES CLIMBING THE CHARTS IN BLOCKS: With 208 blocks in a little over a season with the Cardinals, Rachel Refenes is five shy of the top 20 in school annals . . . Last season, Refenes posted a BSU single-season record with 184 block assists . . . With her 244 blocks from her two season's at Mississippi, the senior has collected 452 career stuffs which would rank her fifth on BSU's all-time list.
LITCHFIELD PICKS UP WIN IN MILESTONE MATCH: Ball State head coach Randy Litchfield was able to collect a win in his 500th match as the team's mentor, as he guided the Cardinals to a 3-0 (30-20, 30-22, 30-18) victory over Butler last Wednesday at Worthen Arena . . . With the win, Litchfield improves his career record to 346-154 (.692).
COCHRAN BREAKS INTO TOP 20: With 10 digs in the win over Butler, junior Kelly Cochran upped her career total to 727, which ranks 20th on BSU's career charts . . . Cochran is currently six digs out of 19th, which is held by the former Barbara Harrison (1986-1999) who is married to BSU assistant coach Chad Weyenberg.
PARRELL TURNING IN SOLID NUMBERS: Entering the weekend, redshirt sophomore setter Angie Parrell has not only accumulated a 10.28 assists-per-game average, but she is posting some impressive offensive and defensive numbers as well . . . She currently averages 1.78 kills, 1.97 digs and 1.00 blocks per game.
WHAT A GAME: The Cardinals opened the Georgetown Hoya Classic with one of the longest games in school history, posting a 37-25 game-one win over Central Connecticut . . . BSU has only posted 37 points in one other game, picking up a 37-35 game-four win vs. Bowling Green Nov. 23, 2001 . . . Ball State dropped a 38-36 game to Toledo Sept. 27, 2003, marking the longest game BSU has played under rally scoring.
