Women's Volleyball Places Three on All-MAC Team

Refenes picks up first team honors for the first time in her career after garnering second team accolades last season. A transfer to Ball State from Mississippi, Refenes' selection to the first team marks the 13th straight year a Cardinal has been named to the All-MAC First Team. Averaging a career-high 4.56 kills per game, Refenes was named the MAC West Player of the Week on two different occasions this past season. In addition, she was also named to the Georgetown Hoya Classic All-Tournament Team plus named the Most Valuable Player in the tournament.
Refenes has played in 80 of BSU's 99 games this season while posting a team high 365 kills. In addition, her 1.52 blocks-per-game average currently ranks 18th in the nation and has contributed to her 5.75 point-per-game average.
McCormick earns second team honors for the first time in her career after transferring from Nebraska last summer where she received All-Big 12 First Team accolades as a sophomore. McCormick joins Ball State's Stephanie Keller (2001-04) as the only liberos in conference history to receive the award. McCormick is the first player in Ball State history to have been named the CVU.com National Player of the Week. She was also named to the Michigan State Invitational All-Tournament team and received the MAC West Player of the Week title in late October.
McCormick has played in all 99 games for the Cardinals this season, and currently ranks fourth in the nation with 6.22 digs per game. Her 616 total digs puts her atop the MAC. McCormick recorded a career-high 37 digs in BSU's three-game win at Toledo (Nov. 5) marking the highest dig total in a three-game match in the nation this season and the third-best in NCAA history.
Obras--a three-time All-MAC First Team selection--earns third team accolades after suffering a season-ending knee injury last year. In last Saturday's match at Central Michigan, Obras became the MAC's all-time career kills leader with 1,911.She also tops the conference books with 5,512 total attempts. A two-time MAC Scholar Athlete of the Week in 2005, Obras is the first player in league history to record 1,500 kills and 1,500 digs in a career.
Obras, who has played in 96 if BSU's 99 games this season, is currently averaging 3.07 kills-per-game. Her season-high of 23 kills came in BSU's 3-2 win over Miami (Sept. 23). She has also posted 369 digs in 2005 for a 3.84 digs-per-game average, moving her career digs total to 1,610 - - the sixth-highest in MAC annals.
