Baxter, who played on the men’s tennis team from 1997-2000, was the Mid-American Conference Player of the Year in 1999-2000 as a senior. He was a member of the 1998 and 2000 MAC Championship teams and a part of the 2000 team that competed in the NCAA Tournament. A two-time All-MAC First-Team selection, Baxter registered a career best 27-10 singles mark at the No. 1 position as a senior, including a 6-0 record vs. MAC opponents. He combined for a 20-12 overall doubles ledger at the No. 1 spot as a senior and ranked as high as 24th in the nation in doubles in his final campaign. Baxter compiled a career mark of 60-44 in singles, including a 15-3 record in MAC Tournament action. He posted a 43-39 career doubles record, including a 10-1 mark in doubles. A volunteer assistant for the Ball State men’s tennis team, Baxter graduated from Ball State in 2000 with a bachelor’s degree in sports administration. The native of Durban, South Africa, also works as a tennis pro at the Carmel Racquet Club in Carmel, Ind. Baxter is married to the former Carrie Sheffield, who was a student-athlete at Ball State. The couple has two sons and reside in Noblesville, Ind.
