Robert Primmer

Primmer, a member of the BSU staff for 24 years until his retirement in 1976, served as director of athletics for the Cardinals between 1958 and 1970, moving the university’s athletic program from the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics to the National Collegiate Athletic Association and pushing Ball State into Division I in ten of its 12 intercollegiate sports.

A member of the 1929 Frankfort High School state championship basketball team, the Indiana Basketball Hall of Fame member also served two years as both basketball and track coach at Ball State between 1952 and 1954.
