Falls lettered in golf for Ball State from 1970 to 1972, was co-medalist in the Conference of Midwestern Universities Golf Championships, leading the Cardinals to their second straight CMU title and to a 14th-place tie in the NCAA Championships as a senior. Between 1973 and 1982, Falls coached basketball, baseball, golf, and cross country at Muncie Burris High School, guiding the Owls to Mid-Eastern Conference titles and earning MEC Coach-of-the-Year honors in all four sports.
