Phil Eatherton

Phil Eatherton was a four-year letterwinner for the men’s volleyball team from 1993-97 and helped the squad to two Midwest Intercollegiate Volleyball Association titles and two trips to the NCAA Championship. A two-time All-MIVA selection, he set Ball State records for career block assists, career total blocks, and career hitting percentage.

After completing his collegiate career, Eatherton became only the third former Ball State student-athlete to appear in the Olympics when he was named to the 2004 U.S. Men’s Volleyball Olympic Team. He also competed on the 1998 USA World Championship Team, the 1999 USA Pan-American Team and the 2006 USA World Championship Team. In 2004, Eatherton received a distinguished Sagamore of the Wabash Award at the Indiana State House, which is given for distinguished service to the state of Indiana. He is currently playing professional volleyball in Poland.
