Riley captured back-to-back Indiana Collegiate Conference individual golf championships in 1961 and 1962; leading Ball State to top-20 finishes in the National Collegiate Athletic Association Championships both campaigns. A three-year letterman for the Cardinals between 1961 and 1963, the Fort Wayne North Side graduate led BSU’s golfers in average during his sophomore and junior campaigns. In 1962, Riley tied for 25th in the NCAA the best-ever effort by a Cardinal golfer in University Division competition.
