Fulmer, physical director at the YMCA for 37 years until his retirement in 1966, lettered four years in both basketball and track at Ball State between 1926 and 1929. He made the 1928 Collegiate All-State squad after leading Indiana’s colleges and universities in scoring with 226 points.
One of five lettermen on BSU’s first track team in 1926, he held the school’s pole vault record for nine years with a leap of 11’9”. He celebrated his 72nd birthday by “shooting the rapids” of the Colorado River through the Grand Canyon for the tenth time.
