Mindy Pretzman graduated in 1995 with a 3.05 GPA as a criminal justice major.
A four-year letterwinner for Ball State, Pretzman became the Cardinals’ starting goalie at the start of her sophomore campaign and remained in that capacity for 63 games over her final three seasons.
As a senior, she allowed just nine goals, while tallying 16 shutouts, a .909 save percentage and a 0.39 goals-against average. She finished the campaign ranked No. 1 in the nation in shutouts and GAA plus No. 5 in save percentage. Pretzman concluded her career with 38 shutouts, 277 saves, an .858 save percentage and a 0.73 GAA. Her 0.39 GAA in 1994 still ranks No. 7 all-time among NCAA leaders, while her 0.73 career GAA places No. 9. She is BSU’s all-time leader in single-season and career shutouts and GAA.
A 1993 and 1994 All-MAC First Team honoree, she became one of only five First Team All-Americans in program history with her selection in 1994. Pretzman garnered all-region recognition as a junior and senior.
A native of Kingston, Pa., Pretzman and her husband, Robert O’Donnell, reside in Arnold, Md. She currently serves as a special agent for the United States Secret Service. As a high school field hockey coach, she led her 2003 team to the Pennsylvania AAA State Championship.
