Melvin Wilson

Wilson started for three years in both football and basketball in addition to starting for the same period on the track team at Ball State between 1932 and 1936. He was an all-state second-team end on the gridiron, one of the leading scorers at center on the hardwood and set school records in both shot put and discus in track.

He was basketball coach at Muncie Central for the 1941-42 and 1942-43 campaigns and spent 17 years as head track and cross-country coach for the Bearcats from 1947 to 1964. He guided the Central harriers to two state crowns.
