George was a football letterman at Ball State from 1979 through 1982. He was a 1982 All-Mid-American Conference First-Team selection as an outside linebacker plus was BSU’s nominee for the league’s Most Valuable Player award. A 1983 graduate, George was the Cardinals’ Most Valuable Player in 1982 plus was the recipient of the team’s Defensive Helmet Award. He ranked third in the MAC in tackles for loss, as a senior with 22 plus was 11th in tackles with 110. George led Ball State in tackles, tackles for loss, and sacks, fumbles caused, and fumbles recovered as a senior. He was an All-MAC Second-Team selection as a junior. In his four-year career, George played in all 44 games and started 41 contests. He holds the BSU record for quarterback sacks in a career with 24, and his 13 sacks in 1982 ties for the school’s single-season mark.
