Joy Gallagher earned four letters in swimming at Ball State from 1993-97. She completed her career as the winningest swimmer (male or female) in Ball State history with 117 individual victories and 62 relay wins. Gallagher, who was named to the ESPN The Magazine Academic All-America Team as a senior, earned honorable mention on the NCAA All-America Team after finishing ninth in the 50-yard freestyle and 14th in the 100 free at the 1997 NCAA Championships. She was named the Mid-American Conference Swimmer of the Year as a junior and senior plus earned All-MAC honors in her final three seasons. She finished her career with a 45-2 record in the 50 free in dual meets, including a span of 41 consecutive wins in dual meet events.
