Hinga, a 1983 inductee into the Indiana Basketball Hall of Fame, served 14 years as Ball State’s head basketball coach, the longest in the university’s history. The Cardinals’ hardwood mentor from 1954 to 1968, Hinga led the1956-57 squad to a 19-8 record and the1963-64 team to a 17-8 mark. Hinga was the only commissioner the Indiana Collegiate Conference ever had and became the commissioner of the Heartland Collegiate Conference.
