Schrecongost, a three-year golf letterman at Ball State from 1966 to 1968, led Ball State to a 13^th-place finish in the NCAA College Division Championships in 1967, finishing 18^th among individuals. In 1968, he helped the Cardinals to a fifth-place effort in the NCAA College Division meet after winning medalist honors in the Indiana Intercollegiate Conference Championships.

Schrecongost later became president and chief operating officer at American National Bank and Trust Company of Muncie.
