One of Ball State's most successful offensive threats at the net, Greg Romano was a three-time All-Midwestern Volleyball Association First Team honoree (1993, 1994, 1995). He was also tabbed to the All-MIVA Tournament Team three times (1992, 1994, 1995). The back-to-back Asics/Volleyball magazine All-American Honorable Mention recipient (1994 & 1995) helped guide Ball State to the 1994 and 1995 MIVA Tournament Championship title and two trips to the NCAA Tournament.
As a senior, Romano ranked second in the MIVA with 4.96 kills per set and fourth in digs with 2.31. He finished his career 12th in the NCAA history (fourth at BSU) with 775 career digs. Romano also finished in the top five in Ball State history for career kills (1,603), blocks (403), aces (94) and attack percentage (.351).
After graduation, Romano had a fruitful professional career in Greece, France, Germany and Italy. He also competed at the World University games and was a participant at the US Olympic Festival while also being selected to the US Junior National Team.
