Sutton was a three-year letterwinner as halfback on the football team and was noted as both a passer and kicker plus earned four letters as a pitcher and center fielder on the Cardinals’ baseball team. In his senior season on BSU’s baseball team, Sutton led the team to a then school-record 11 victories, which surpassed the school-record 10 wins accomplished in Sutton’s junior campaign.
