In 19 seasons as Ball State’s head volleyball coach, Dr. Shondell has guided the Cardinals to a 447-98-6 record, 11 Midwest Intercollegiate Volleyball Association Championships or co-championships and six National Collegiate Athletic Association Final Four appearances. The Fort Wayne native, a 1952 graduate of BSU, has been chosen MIVA Coach of the Year six times.

Shondell has served as chairman of the NCAA Volleyball Committee, president of the United States Volleyball Association and a USVBA representative to the United States Olympic Committee.
