Darrett Brinker was a member of the Ball State men’s golf team from 1989-93. He received honorable mention on the 1992-93 Golf Coaches Association All-America Team after managing an 18-hole average of 73.44 on the season, which was the second lowest in Ball State history. As a senior, Brinker was also an All-Mid-American Conference First-Team selection plus was selected the league’s Sportsman of the Year. He was also an NCAA All-District choice plus was a three-time recipient of the MAC Player of the Week award as a senior. Brinker qualified for the 1993 NCAA Championships by virtue of a sixth-place finish at the NCAA Central Regional, and became the first Ball State golfer to advance to the NCAAs as an individual since 1980. Brinker won three tournaments as a senior plus placed third as an individual at the MAC Championships and helped the Cardinals to a second place showing.
After college, Brinker played professional golf and won 30 mini-tour events plus competed in the 1996 U.S. Open. He is currently a golf course professional at Eagle Valley Golf Course in Evansville.
