Cooper was a four-year letterwinner in men’s volleyball at Ball State from 1987-90. The setter from Rexdale, Ontario, was named the Midwestern Intercollegiate Volleyball Association ‘s Most Valuable Player as a senior after leading the Cardinals to a third straight MIVA Championship and the school’s 11th trip to the NCAA Tournament. A four-time All-MIVA selection, Cooper completed his career as the school’s all-time leader in assists (7,127) and service aces (186). He ranked seventh nationally as a senior with 0.47 service aces per game and had the nation’s second highest total with 57 aces. An MIVA All-Tournament choice as a senior, Cooper was also named the MVP of the Penn State/Mizuno Invitational and the ASICS Volleycard Classic. A team captain as a senior, Cooper managed a career-best 107 assists vs. IPFW as a sophomore, and a career best .545 attack percentage vs. Navy as a freshman.
