Cathy Basso graduated in 1995 with a 3.55 GPA as a business major. She received her MBA degree from BSU in 1996, while serving as a graduate assistant in development and working primarily with the CVC.
A four-year letterwinner in field hockey, Basso also received one letter as a member of Ball State’s softball program during her senior year.
Basso played in 80 games during her career with 77 starts. She totaled 38 goals and 11 assists. The 38 goals remains fifth on BSU’s all-time charts, while her 87 total points places 10th. Her 16 goals as a senior ties for ninth on the school’s single-season charts. She ranked nationally during the 1994 season in goals, assists and points.
Basso was a three-time All-MAC honoree, including first-team recognition as a freshman and a senior. She garnered All-Midwest Region First Team laurels in 1994 after second-team honors in 1992. She capped her playing career with selection to the 1994 All-America Second Team.
Basso’s list of honors includes three-time selection to the Academic All-MAC Team plus as a three-time member of the National Academic Team. A native of Highland Lakes, N.J., Basso is a product-marketing manager for Roche Diagnostics and resides in Carmel, Ind.Â
