Bullington was originally selected for the Hall of Fame in 2011-12 but was unable to attend because of his commitments in professional baseball.
A baseball letterwinner from 2000-02 for the Cardinals, he was the 2001 and 2002 Mid-American Conference Pitcher of the Year. A three-time All-MAC selection, Bullington was the No. 1 overall pick in the 2002 Major League Baseball Draft by the Pittsburgh Pirates. He was the first player from the MAC to ever be selected as the No. 1 choice in any major sports draft.
Bullington made appearances in the majors with the Pirates (2005, 2007), Cleveland Indians (2008), Toronto Blue Jays (2009) and Kansas City Royals (2010). He then went on to play five seasons of professional baseball in Japan.
